I am not at all sure if I should even be writing this post.
It is, in fact, less of a post and more of a vomit. Spilling my guts to no one in particular just might make me feel a little better, I’m hoping. But I’m not too sure of that either. If you don’t bother reading any further, I'd be happy for you.
I am appalled. I am shocked. I am disgusted. And entirely unable to either forget or stomach what I saw last night. Last night I saw a video that made me feel sick to the core of my being, and utterly ashamed of belonging to the same species as those men (men!!!) in the video.
The video, published over the net by a group called Voice of Jehad, supposedly an affiliate of Al-Qaeda, is meant to be a warning for the US of A. It is not the only video of its kind either, just one of many. It shows a group of masked Iraqi terrorists butchering a U.S. citizen, a civilian. After playing an Arabic song (seemingly about Jehad) and showing some Arabic text, these monsters coolly read out their demands. Then they go on to slice the head off the hapless American , not in one go, but over a minute or so, as his guttural screams slowly die off. Butchered like a helpless animal for no fault of his.
It seems that there’s no limit to what horrors we humans are capable of.
The overwhelming feeling of disgust and anger hasn’t subsided yet. I doubt it will for a long while, if at all.
O God. O-whoever-is-watching-over-us-and-has-the-power-to-make-things-right. If you are a righteous and wrathful God, now would be a good time to inflict justice. Either make us better than who or what we are. Or purge this planet by finishing off our species.
A prayer for those who have fallen prey to the demons within and amidst us. Another for the kith and kin of the victims who may have witnessed their gruesome demise.
